| Comments: | Dear Sirs, My name is David McMullen. I have recently read on the NI Referee's Associate Website that NI Refs support a charity each year. I wanted to inform you of the charity MITRE based at Musgrave Park Hospital in Belfast. MITRE have just provided the largest ever charitable donation to the Northern Ireland Health Service through the £3.5 million Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine building here at the hospital. This building means that the Sports Medicine department is now the largest of its kind in the UK. The department is dedicated to the care of both recreational and elite sports injuries patients. The department regularly treats those sports people from local soccer, GAA and Ulster Rugby fields as well as athletes in most other sports. As a consultant-led unit, it is dedicated to providing a service that will allow athletes to get back to their sport in the shortest, safest way. There are many local Irish League players who have benefited and will continue to benefit fr |

In some reports the match official has come in for some very severe criticism. Obviously, these reports are written by club members (sour grapes)and not reporters but can anything be done to stop this unfair criticism? Or do we just grin and bear it??? Can clubs be taken to task by the IFA or Co Antrim?" March 18, 2003 13:30:19 (GMT Time) Some decisions have been very-questionable. I can fully understand a ref who is only a few yards away making a decision, but sometimes they are not even up with play and can 'award' a penalty from quite a distance. Quite recently I watched a game at Wilgar Park, where the 2 (assitants, usually a backroom member from each of the participants taking part) were both standing in the same half running the line. Surely the ref that day could have asked for one of them to move to the other half of the field? On that particular day, the ref w |

It would be helpful if members concerned by such reports could keep the offending reports as evidence. |

| Comments: | Re the message posted on 27th Jan about contact details for teams involved in Junior Cup or Junior Shield games. Whilst I completely understand the reasonable motives behind this request, the ultimate responsibility for contacting teams solely lies with the football body organising the particular competition. Where an official deems a pitch unplayable, his/her responsibility is to immediately inform either the IFA or CAFA (in the case of Junior Cup or Junior Shield games). Thereafter, it's the responsibility of the organising football authority to contact the teams. As an aside, I'm sure that if the IFA or CAFA were asked for their views on this issue they would not want to change a thing, because once responsibility (in this scenario referees notifying teams re an unplayable pitch)are delegated and transferred, then central control, administration and a clear understanding of what needs to be done by whom and when is ultimately lost, with the likley upshot being a much more chaotic |

| Comments: | Would it be possible for the Association to approach the IFA & Co Antrim regarding provision to match officials of Contact phone numbers when allocated Junior Cup or Junior Shield games. When a pitch inspection needs to be carried out for Junior Cup the match official has no way of contacting either the home or away team if the match is called off. This could lead to a long & wasted journey for some. |

They Blow for offside directly from throw in's and corners for example and this is just the tip of the iceberg that I've witnessed on a weekly basis. | Comments: | Having recently taken a break from the gane for a while I must admit I have missed geeting out to referee or assist a colleague much more than I ever thought I would - so much so that I do believe I will have to hunt out my registration form and send it to Windsor Avenue to see if they will accept me later than usual in the season. It has been good to spend some time on the sidelines and listen to various comments made to and about referees but take it from me ladsmost of the comments are based on an ignorance of the laws of the game and what we are trying to achieve as we carry out our duties - but then I am preaching to the converted here. I would encourage you all to keep up the sterling work you all do and maybe I will have the privelege of pulling on the old outfit before the season is over. PS Best wishes to the nominees for FIFA, all merited based on my viewing of football locally. Must go find the form and get writing. |

| Comments: | On behalf of the Ballymena branch I would like to thank Colin Rainey for organising the "Christmas Dinner" which was held at the Ramble Inn last Friday (13th). It must be said though, it was enjoyed more by some than others for after having their main course, 2 chocolate puddings they then helped themselves to their friends dinner - via her throat! Her tonsils must be BLACK and blue! |

| Comments: | Patrick, Quickly reviewed the site before signing into the guest book. In terms of site construction, you've made excellent progress in such a relatively short period of time. In particular, latest information provided to you has been skillfully intergrated. Keep up the good work! Regards Trevor |

| Comments: | Patrick Great to have the site up and running after our period of inactivity. Hopefully the members will make your job that bit easier by passing on information and stories for you to include on the site. Good to see some visitors already logging on from all over the globe. As for the question posed earlier on the guest book by "Joe", appointments to the Irish Football League are made by the Irish League and appointments to the various junior leagues are made by each of those respective leagues. Keep up the good work Patrick. |

| Comments: | Enjoyed the irony of the red-carding waving psychotic ref on the homepage. Obviously a truer image would be calm, decisive, controlled and fluffy bunny wunny official in action, but I suspect the joke will be lost on the hooligans at Solitude. Keep up the impressive work (deleting all those nasty entries, too)!! |
